About Lake Poinsett State Park
Lake Poinsett State Park
Lake Poinsett is nestled atop the rolling hills of Crowley's Ridge in northeast Arkansas. Fishermen will find this relatively shallow 640-acre lake filled with crappie, bream, catfish and bass. Located on the northern end of Lake Poinsett, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission State Park offers campers 29 sites (26 Class B and three Class D), abundant picnic areas, a screened pavilion with restrooms, a boat launch ramp, and boat rentals. Park visitors are offered interpretive programs as well. Open fields allow for baseball and softball games. Located between the campground and the picnic area is a children's playground. The 1.1-mile Great Blue Heron Trail offers hikers the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely 45-minute hike.
Directions: From Harrisburg, travel one mile east on Ark. 14, then go three miles south on Ark. 163 to the park.
